General Manager – Newlands Golf Club
Newlands Golf Club, one of Dublin’s most established and respected member-owned golf clubs with more than 1,100 members, invites applications for the position of General Manager.
This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for the overall management, strategic development, and day-to-day operation of the club. It offers an exciting opportunity to lead a progressive and ambitious club with a strong membership base, dedicated volunteers, and a clear vision for the future.
Reporting to the Management Committee through the Honorary Secretary, the General Manager will lead a committed staff team and work closely with members, volunteers, and key service providers to support the continued success and development of the club.
This is a full-time permanent position, with a requirement for flexibility to meet the operational needs of the club,
including evening and weekend work as required. Salary will be commensurate with experience. It is hoped that the
successful candidate will take up the role by the end of May 2026.
Key responsibilities
The General Manager will be responsible for:
• overseeing the overall management and administration of the club’s operations
• leading, managing, and developing staff across administration, course, and clubhouse functions
• delivering a high-quality experience for members and visitors
• working collaboratively with the Management Committee and sub-committees to support the effective
governance and development of the club
• providing financial oversight, including budgeting, reporting, and cost control, in conjunction with the Honorary Treasurer and Finance Committee
• supporting committee administration, policy implementation, and the smooth running of club governance processes
• overseeing procurement, contractor relationships, and service delivery across the club
• supporting the planning and delivery of competitions, events, and club initiatives
• working closely with the Club Professional and Caterer to ensure excellent service for members and guests
• ensuring effective communication across members, staff, and committees
• driving continuous improvement across all areas of the club
• maintaining compliance with governance, health and safety, employment, and other regulatory requirements
The successful candidate will demonstrate
• proven experience in a senior management or leadership role within the golf industry or a similar member club environment
• strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage, motivate, and support teams
• excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with members, volunteers, and external stakeholders
• sound financial and operational management experience
• a clear understanding of the structure and culture of member-owned clubs
• the ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on operational delivery
• experience of administration, governance support, and organisational planning
• high levels of professionalism, integrity, and organisational ability
Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience of
• golf club management software, preferably Intelligent Golf
• Xero or a similar accounting package
• social media management and content creation
• Golf Ireland Clubhouse
• digital signage solutions
Remuneration and Benefits
A competitive salary package will be offered, commensurate with experience. This role also includes pension contributions and support for ongoing professional development.
